From: shersingh INTEGRATED NATIONALISM BETTER CONCEPT THAN INCLUSIVE NATIONALISM :- The term “ NATIONAL INTEGRATION” is made up of two words- 1. National 2. Integration. It implies the presence of a number of Nations which get integrated into each other. For example, Maharashtrian Nation, Punjabi Nation, etcetra which get integrated with each other to form a bigger common entity called “Indian”. But, such integration does not necessarily guarantee that these constituent Nations shall feel the presence of a common bigger nation composed of all such smaller nations. The individuals constituting these constituent nations may still harbor feelings of being part of a separate nation like “I am first a Maharashtrian, then an Indian”. On the other hand, “Integrated Nationalism” leads to the feeling that “I am first a member of the Indian Nation, then a Member of Maharashtrian Nation.” Majority of individuals in each constituent nation get integrated with members of other nations leading to the feeling of being first the part of a bigger common nation and thereafter only the member of constituent nations. For example, a Hindu feels integrated with a Muslim on levels of culture, human feelings, respect for each other’s religion and so on. Thus, both a Hindu and a Muslim gets integrated and come to have a feeling of commonality- having something bigger in common- THE BIGGER NATION. This bigger identity overshadows the smaller identity. Thus, the Nationalism resulting from such integration is longer lasting than both the NATIONAL INTEGRATION AND INCLUSIVE NATIONALISM. The concept of Inclusive Nationalism is Narrower, restricted, smaller than the concept of the Integrated Nationalism. Semantically speaking, the use of the word “Inclusive” implies mere inclusion and not necessarily the integration. For example, the Bigger Nation may include smaller nations like Hindu, Muslim, Christian. These nations may have a sense of being included in the bigger sphere called “Nationalism”. But, these entities may still not have any feelings of integration/bond with each other. These entities may still at any time think of breaking away from the Bigger common Nation. But, in the case of “Integrated Nationalism”, this breaking/separating away does not happen because members of these nations lane already wielded, glued , bonded, integrated with each other so solidly that they come to have a feeling of oneness on some long lasting levels, thereby rarely contemplating breaking/ separation from each other/the bigger Nation. The aim of the policy makers in any polity must be to achieve THE INTEGRATED NATIONALISM and not the National Integration or the Inclusive Nationalism. The Maa Bhaaratee Paartee shall strive to achieve THE INTEGRATED NATIONALISM.

INDIAN MEDIA 'S PROPENSITY TO REPORT INACCURATELY!

The Indian media of late has shown its tendency and propensity to report inaccurately. One of the latest prime example is that of The Times Of India, a much respected and widely read English language mainstream newspaper in India. It carried on its front page a news item titled “TOI-Crest’s Indian Of The Decade: SONIA GANDHI” in its New Delhi edition dated December 25, 2009.Click on the following foto to see this news item: 

The title itself is inaccurate, since the DECADE in question shall get completed only in 2010 and as such it would have been ACCURATE REPORTING if this newspaper had declared SONIA GANDHI its Indian of The Decade in the YEAR 2011 only after the year 2010 was over! Also, it further reported inaccurately on its page 13 of the same edition, in a news item titled “UPA chief has reclaimed Gandhi Family legacy”, ….The unlikely emergence of Sonia as a Wonder Women is, in many ways, the narrative of the unlikely emergence of India as a superpower…….”. The matter of the fact is that Thakur Sher Singh Parmar had already foreseen and forecast the emergence of India as a superpower, in his article titled “India The Emerging Global Power!”, dated 3rd of January, 2005 which was posted in January, 2005 on his MSN geography group and the same was subsequently repeated on the same website/MSN group on 1st of March,2005. WHAT PERHAPS WAS NOT ANTICIPATED WAS THE CATAPULATION/CERTIFICATION OF INDIA TO THE STATUS OF THE GLOBAL SUPERPOWER BY BUSH ADMINISTRATION AND ITS ACCEPTANCE AS SUCH BY REST OF THE WORLD, A TURNING POINT WHICH MADE INDIAN ESTABLISHMENT EUPHORIC/FULLY CONSCIOUS OF INDIA BEING THE EMERGING GLOBAL POWER!

The big question is why do the big Indian newspapers time and again report inaccurately? Is it because their reporters and editors don’t do a thorough research unlike the English language foreign journalists? Is it because that they don’t want to report facts accurately despite in possession of full facts of a story/news item? If it is so, why do they so? Is it because vested interests cause them to do so? Is it because sometimes news reporting is simply planned out and pumped into print to serve some one’s personal/group interest/s? Is it because they don’t wish to let others get due credit in a media world perceived by themselves as full of cut-throat competition? One is reminded of the ‘RANN’ movie starring Amitabh Bachan and produced by Ramgopal which gives answers to the seemingly puzzling questions such as above in A BIG ‘YES’!

The Unique National Identity Number scheme in India seems to have been left to the whims of the concerned committe Demographic Data Standards and Verification Procedue [ DDSVP ]headed by N Vittal in its report to the Unique Identification Authority of India [ UIDAI ] chaired by Nilekani Nandan because this committe has unwisely recommended non inclusion of the date/place of birth/residence in the Unique ID [UID ]on grounds of the PROBABLE RISK OF PROFILING BASED ON , SAY FOR EXAMPLE, REGION!

The Idealistically Realist and Realistically Idealist Pragmatist Barack Obama

The world at large and the USA citizens in particular are perplexed as to what is there in the heart and mind of Barack Obama , the current USA President as regards his international policies. Everyone seems to be puzzled - how come Obama received Nobel prize for peace in 2009 and still he is continuing with the ongoing USA military role both in Iraq and Afghanistan? All those who supported him to become the USA President, in the hope that he would quickly call the American troops from Iraq and Afghanistan back home once he assumed powers in the White House seem to be dismayed. So, where has all the idealism of Obama evaporated? Has Obama become a realist in the sense that he has realised it to be necessary to continue with the present American military roles in both these countries?
Well, to my mind, Obama unwittingly is following the policy - BE NEITHER AN IDEALIST NOR A REALIST OR A PRAGMATIST, BUT BE AN IDEALISTICALLY REALIST AND REALISTICALLY IDEALIST PRAGMATIST [ IRRIP ].
Being idealist totally involves ignoring the realities of the given situation and the person perceives everything from the angle of full idealism. On the other hand, being realist totally means the person does not care a fig for any element of idealism.The totally pragmatist person is concerned neither with any idealism nor any realism. Such a person does not mind achieving objectives even if it meant casting aside/trampling upon any idealist necessities/aspirations of the players involved.
Also, such a person tends to ignore realities around, with the achieving of his/her own objective at any cost being the uppermost priority in his/her mind.But, the person adopting the IRRIP approach does not ignore the realities around and does not give up all of the idealism. Such a person tries to achieve his/her ideal/s by placing such ideal/s correctly in the context of the existing realities.
Obama seems to be following the above explained IRRIP approach on the foreign policy front in the context of Iraq and Afghanistan. Its true Obama had during his electoral race for the White House idealistically promised a quick pull out of the American troops from these two war ravaged countries. But, then he seems to have realised the realities of the situation after assuming the office as the President of the USA that its not possible to pull out American troops immediately without jeopardising the national interests of the USA and cause of the world-peace. He could not do a FULLY IDEALIST VP SINGH ACT. VP Singh had on becoming the Prime Minister of India quickly withdrawn the Indian troops from the trouble-torn SriLanka to fulfil the promise he had made during his election campaign. Both these cases are altogether different necessiting different treatments.
Obama no doubt realised the existing ground realities in Iraq and Afghanistan. Still, he has tried to achieve his idealism in terms of trying to fulfil the promise of the American Troops pull out from these two countries.But, the element of realism has perceptibly resulted into the delayed time table for withdrawal of the American troops. Obama's this IRRIP approach is certainly better than what any Republican President in the White House would have done - He/She would have displayed full realist inclination and would in all probability have continued with the presence of the American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan for an undefined period!
